Why families choose Peel Autism Services

Qualified, regulated team

Your child is in trusted hands. In Ontario, Behaviour Analyst is a regulated, protected title, and our analysts and therapists guide your family with care every step of the way.4

Dedicated, personal care

We build a personalized plan for your child using evidence-based methods, then adjust it as your child grows, so support always fits where they are today.

Skills for everyday life

Our approach helps your child build the communication, social, and learning skills they need to thrive at home, at school, and in the wider community.

What we offer

Therapies built around your child

Evidence-based programs delivered in your home, at our Mississauga centre, or virtually across Peel Region, chosen to fit your family and your child's goals. Starting support early gives many children the best chance to build communication and daily living skills.

Applied Behaviour Analysis

Applied behaviour analysis, or ABA, is a long-established, widely used autism therapy, and in Ontario behaviour analysts are now a regulated health profession. It gently builds vital skills like communication, play, and sharing while easing the behaviours that make daily life hard, with a plan shaped around your child and your family.4

Intensive Behaviour Intervention

IBI offers focused one-to-one programming that can accelerate skill growth for some children. Your child works on routines, communication, and independence with a behaviour analyst, with progress tracked carefully so the plan keeps meeting their needs.

Speech & Language Pathology

Speech-language therapy sparks your child's voice, building talking and listening skills through gentle, expert guidance so they can connect with friends and family and grow in confidence.

Transportation Service

Our transportation service gets your child to sessions safely and on time, so you can keep care consistent without juggling traffic and schedules.

A Journey of Lifelong Learning

Our Lifelong Learning path builds study habits and a love of learning that lasts, setting your child up for success at school and well beyond the classroom.

Virtual Therapy

Virtual Therapy brings ABA to you. Expert care flows through your screen when in-person visits are tough, keeping skills climbing without the travel.

Respite Care Services

Respite Care brings relief. Trained professionals care for your child while you take time to breathe, keeping your whole family strong and supported.

Understanding autism

What is Autism?

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a common neurodevelopmental condition that shapes how a person communicates, learns, and experiences the world. It is more common than many families realize: in Canada, about 1 in 50 children and youth aged 1 to 17 are diagnosed with autism. Every autistic child is different, with their own strengths, and recognizing the early signs and starting evidence-based support early can make a real difference.1

  • Finding it hard to read emotions, make eye contact, or share attention with others.
  • Repetitive movements or a strong need for routines, like lining up objects or doing things the same way.
  • Delayed speech, limited gestures, or other differences in how your child communicates.
  • Strong reactions to sounds, lights, textures, or other everyday sensations.

Newly diagnosed? Start here

A new diagnosis is a beginning, not a limit

Relief, worry, and a hundred questions all at once. It is a lot, and whatever you are feeling is okay. Take a breath: your child is the same wonderful kid they were yesterday, and a diagnosis is simply the key that unlocks support. You do not have to do everything today. Here is a calm, Ontario-specific path you can follow one step at a time, when you are ready.

  1. Register with AccessOAP first

When you feel ready, contact AccessOAP at 1-833-425-2445 and submit your child's diagnosis report. Your place in line is set by your registration date, so registering early is the single most helpful thing you can do first.3

  2. Understand OAP funding

The Ontario Autism Program offers needs-based funding and core clinical services for eligible children. The amount varies by your child's age and assessed needs, and a care coordinator can help you understand what your family may receive.2

  3. Explore starting support now

Waits for core services can be long, and early support matters. You are welcome to contact a provider like us to talk through an assessment and options for beginning therapy while you wait.

  4. Look into extra funding

Depending on your child's needs, your family may qualify for other Ontario supports that help with costs and respite. A care coordinator or our team can point you to the right programs.

  5. Connect with your child's school

When the time feels right, talk to your child's teacher about an Individual Education Plan and classroom supports, so school becomes a place where your child can thrive.

  6. Look after your whole family

Connect with parent groups and consider respite. Supporting your child is a long, hopeful journey, and your own wellbeing is part of the plan.

For educators & referrers

Teachers, you can change a child's trajectory

You are often the first to notice a child may be developing differently, and a thoughtful, well-timed conversation can change everything. You do not diagnose; your role is to observe, support in the classroom, and gently help families find the right professionals. Connecting a family early can help them reach Ontario's support system and registration sooner, when timing really matters.

Contact us for referral resources
  • Document specific, factual observations (communication, social interaction at recess, responses to change) and share them constructively, describe behaviours, not diagnoses.
  • Open a supportive, non-alarming conversation: lead with the child's strengths and frame an assessment as a way to get the right support.
  • Point families to their family doctor for an assessment, AccessOAP (1-833-425-2445) to register, and a qualified local provider for therapy.
  • With consent, coordinate goals between the classroom, the therapy team, and any IEP to keep everyone aligned.
